What does black tie wedding attire mean?

This wedding dress code is all about the tuxedo—the classic black and white.

Gentleman should start with a Black, White or Dark Navy Tuxedo Jacket, then add a simple white tuxedo shirt, black bow-tie (yes reiterating bow-tie) tuxedo pants (and yes tuxedo pants do have an accent stripe) and finally black tux shoes which are always high gloss. The vest, suspenders, or cumberbun are the only optional part to this black tie event dress code.

The ladies who are attending might not need as much explaining on this subject but some basics: Dresses this evening all should be floor length or close to it, no cocktail dresses—colors and patterns should be minimal to nonexistent and since there is no bride you technically could wear white if you wanted. A little sequin never hurt especially on NYE!
